CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Elementary Education

Allen University is seeking applicants to fill a full-time position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in
Spring 2024 to fill an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Elementary Education for the Department of
Education within the Division of Business, Education, and Social Sciences. The undergraduate Elementary
Education teacher's initial certification programs prepare undergraduates to enter the career field to teach
students in the elementary grades 2-6.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Teach undergraduate elementary education courses, including methods & student teaching, & assist students in fulfilling their maximum potential by conducting comprehensive academic advisement sessions.
• Conduct scholarly research in elementary education.
• Participation in program-related accreditation activities for the department & academic unit.
• Participate in service activities conducted by the University, division, department, and community,which includes outreach to Community Colleges and high schools.
• Other duties as assigned related to faculty workload policy and department needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION :
• A doctorate in Elementary Education is required.

EXPERIENCE :
• Teaching experience in elementary school-based environments is required and university teaching and advising experience is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and student-centered instruction.
• Demonstrated evidence of teaching contributions in teacher education, research, and supervision of interns.
• Demonstrated evidence of working in diverse learning environments.
• Demonstrated evidence of incorporating technology in courses to engage diverse learners.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on university-wide committees.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with students to support their progression to the degree and their service to the community.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have completed a doctoral degree in Elementary Education by
August 1, 2024. The normal teaching load is 5/5, so applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the experience of the applicant.
