Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President Human Resources serves as the leader of Human Resources. This role provides oversight to Hope Media Group’s Volunteer function and the Houston Headquarters’ Front Desk. This position provides a high level of leadership to the organization with specific focus in the area of strategic people planning, organizational development and talent management. This role serves as a business partner to Leadership and provides broad based thought leadership on a variety of business and people topics. Hope Media Group the home of KSBJ, WayFM, Vida Unida and NGEN radio. This position resides in Humble, TX (Greater Houston Area).

Essential Functions:

Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Assess the capability of the organization to ensure accomplishment of the organization’s goals and initiatives (i.e., organizational structure, skill development, systems, processes)
  • Partner with Leadership to identify ways to support the organization’s short- and long-term goals and mission through talent management
  • Advise Leadership in key organizational decisions pertaining to compensation, benefits, talent management, and workforce planning
  • Understand industry changes, economic factors, and internal analytics for forecasting staffing trends and changes for the organization.

Talent Management

  • Assess the performance and potential of the organizations talent
  • Develop, motivate, and retain high potential leaders
  • Create succession plans for key positions
  • Grow leadership and management capabilities through talent assessments, 360 feedback and the use of management and leadership development opportunities
  • Provide professional development and learning opportunities for staff that will enhance their development and capability
  • Provide leadership, as well as mentoring and development, in conflict resolution and other interpersonal relationships

Organizational Development

  • Serve as change management expert; assess, define and drive activities that will establish organizational effectiveness and sustain organizational change
  • Develop an organization that is capable and prepared to support the strategic goals and initiatives identified
  • Identify and establish processes, systems and structures required to support goal achievement
  • Ensure organization is structured and aligned to create a results oriented, high performing team that fosters an environment of high accountability
  • Diagnose business needs and deliver appropriate solutions

Leadership

  • Provide leadership for Human Resources, Front Desk to the Houston Headquarters and Volunteer department
  • Collaborate with cross divisional and departmental teams to support accomplishing organizational goals and objectives
  • Serve as a mentor, resource and role model for all staff in the area of leadership
  • Serve as an internal consultant on all human resource issues and provide appropriate recommendation, counsel, and mentoring
  • Ensure a healthy work environment and culture that lives out the organizations core virtues

Administration

  • Analyze the effectiveness of HR operations, including policies, practices, and results
  • Actively participate in the Executive Compensation process and board meeting
  • Review, revise and implement effective policies and procedures related to human resources and ensure that all HR processes comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations

Demonstrated Faith

  • Pray for coworkers in team meetings
  • Lead prayer in large group settings, as needed
  • Pray for donors when called upon to do so
  • Use Christian principles to work through conflict
  • Participate in Fundraising Events and pray for donors over the phone, as needed
  • Participate in ministry wide Christian bible studies
  • Attend Prayer Huddle for ministry-wide prayer and devotions

Non-Essential Functions:

Requirements:

Education:

  • College degree /major in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related years of applicable work experience

Experience:

  • 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resources required
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management
  • Proven track record in all areas of Talent Management which includes: Workforce Planning, Performance Management, Talent Development, Succession Planning, Employee Engagement, Employee Retention, Recruitment/Selection and Compensation/Rewards
  • Proven ability to impact positive change to the organizations culture
  • Successful track record in designing and implementing practical solutions to address organizational needs
  • Possess knowledge of fundamental HR concepts, experience in creating people strategies, successful management of complex projects, and proven success at building credibility quickly at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Experience in fast paced changing organization
  • Experience in a non-profit ministry a plus

  • Person of strong moral character and integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Immediate supervision over a unit, section or department. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.
