Instructional Support Specialist -STEM Camp (Part-Time) Grant Funded

Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting faculty in delivering specialized assigned area courses.  Serve as a liaison to ensure the efficient overall administration and delivery of the unique courses and related services to both faculty and students.  This is a security-sensitive position related to student records and confidentiality.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manage student databases. Create, maintain, and edit databases for testing and   promotional and/or course related mailings;
  2. Assist full-time and adjunct faculty for online testing;
  3. Prepare, edit and distribute student tests. Schedule instructors for test proctoring.
  4. Publish online exams and schedule proctored or practice/self-assessment.
  5. Proctor exams as necessary. Grade and record lab skills, quizzes, and exams;
  6. Process and distribute instructional newsletters and grade notifications;
  7. Process videotape distribution and returns. Distribute and collects SEOI forms;
  8. Duplicate instructional materials;
  9. Screen visitors. Answer phone calls. Sort and distribute faxes and mail;
  10. Assist with help desk. Manage student queries. Refer and schedule students for regular and make-up orientations;
  11. Operate various instructional office equipment;
  12. Handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner;
  13. File all correspondence. Maintain and protect applicant files, student testing and grading files. Purge and archive files as necessary. Maintain personal timesheets; and
  14. Assist with asset management and organizational stewardship. Maintain program inventory and ordering of supplies. As necessary, assist and guide students in all lab activities including equipment set-up and usage, restocking of supplies and preparation of laboratory practice areas and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.  

 

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years general office experience required, three (3) years preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Proficiency in basic computer skills such as word processing and spreadsheet applications;
  2. Ability to maintain laboratory equipment;
  3. Ability to adapt to lab policy and procedural changes;
  4. Good written, oral communication and organizational skills;
  5. Excellent proofreading practices and skills;
  6. Generate statistical analyses reports of student performance;
  7. Basic understanding of test performance indices;
  8. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population;
  9. Good Customer service skills over the phone;
  10. Good technology troubleshooting and analytical skills;
  11. Basic Knowledge of CANVAS learning Management system;
  12. Knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus; and
  13. Ability to work in different shifts.
