Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Academic HR Manager, you are responsible for a portfolio of academic areas, the daily administration of HR procedures for faculty, lecturers (bargained-for), research fellow, librarians and graduate student appointments (150+ employees) with a focus on appointment administration and employment and recruitment processes. You will interpret and apply policies, practices and programs, including the respective collective bargaining agreements. You will collaborate with the Academic HR Manager to provide support to the HR Generalist Associate.

Responsibilities*

 

  • Manage daily administration of academic appointments considering workload, salary and appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of appointment changes, leave requests, terminations, additional pay requests, and multiple job changes for all academic appointments and graduate student appointments within area portfolio.
  • Manage the administration of multiple faculty compensation changes and payments.
  • Review subsequent PARs from SSC Coordinator services.
  • Lead the effort certification process for all Ross staff and faculty.
  • Manage new hire paperwork and onboarding communications.
  • You will manage recruiting activities; postings and hiring procedures for all academic and bargained-for appointments within area portfolio.
  • Manage the status of appointments, visa matters and other HR related issues, including policy changes and provide recommendations.
  • Manage J1 Visa processing for visiting professors and scholars.
  • Lead faculty promotion and tenure review casebook process.
  • Lead the annual LEO review process including eligibility, communication, and coordination with lecturers, the executive committee and area chairs.
  • Lead the LEO-GLAM appointment and promotion process.
  • Lead the LEO annual report process working directly with Faculty Support to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreement requirements.
  • Be a back-up to the Academic HR Manager as liaison with University Academic Human Resources and the Provost's Office.
  • Collaborate on important initiatives related to faculty management, organizational climate, and faculty data.
  • Collaborate to develop and recommend new approaches to Ross AHR Department processes.
  • Create HR communications and maintain academic HR pages of the HR website, write and disseminate communications, respond to email inquiries.
  • Maintain records, conforming to University and statutory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of legal and University requirements affecting assigned responsibilities, and monitor the department's service and performance.

 

Required Qualifications*

 

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Experienced in process improvement.
  • Previous work experience or knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing HR procedures

 

Additional Information

 

The general salary range for this position is $65,000 - $72,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
