Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards, in support of, and under the direction of the section supervisor and attending pathologist. Applies knowledge of anatomic pathology concepts, and industry practices to: perform gross description and dissection of simple and complex surgical specimens, prepare and select tissue for histological examination and ancillary testing, photograph specimens, assist with frozen section services and intraoperative consultations, teach pathology dissection techniques to medical residents and PA students, perform postmortem examinations as needed, assist in clean-up and maintenance of laboratory, and perform other duties as needed.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pathology Asst III or Pathology Asst IV.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Completion of a two-year Pathologists' Assistant program (NAACLS accredited).

  • A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant experience.

  • Current ASCP Board certification.

  • Experience and proven success with advanced knowledge in pathology theory and industry best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with residents.
  • Academic medical center.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must pass physical and TB test.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
