Summary of Position

Keene State College invites applications for an Executive Director of Academic Support Services to provide vision, strategic direction, leadership, and management of operations for academic support units including TRIO Programs (Aspire, Aspire STEM, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math Science, Links, Peer Tutoring), Academic & Career Advising (ACA), Global Education Office (GEO), and Office of Disability Services (ODS) along with long-range strategic planning for closer integration and collaboration of these functions.

Other minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree and a miniumum of five years related experience
  • Experience in establishing and supervising effective processes for data and information management to ensure timely and accurate reporting and confidentiality of participant records.
  • Proven success working with TRIO programs including Student Support Services, Upward Bound, and Upward Bound Math-Science.
  • Successful grant writing experience.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to train and work with colleagues to implement new and appropriate technologies.
  • Experience in Information Technology Management to ensure the successful submission of Annual Performance Reports to the Dept. of Education.
  • Knowledge about and experience in working with low-income academically challenged students.
  • Demonstarted ability to motivate and lead teams of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means; excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to a collaborative team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of students and colleagues.
  • Active engagement in the TRIO community at the Federal, State, and or local level.

Proven ability to restructure and/or redirect programs in order to continuously respond to emerging research, strategies for improved efficiency or changes in student demographics, abilities, and or aspirations. Duty/Responsibility

LEADERSHIP FOR ACADEMIC SUPPORT UNIT
  • Provide overarching leadership, strategic direction, and strategic planning for Academic & Career Advising, Global Education Office and Office of Disability Services.
  • Guide and manage the evolution of all programs such that they provide optimum service, which is responsive to the shifting needs of the student populations, and incorporates emerging best practices.
  • Represent all programs through service on various community organizations’ committees and boards.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, enrollment management, student services, academic leaders, and other academic support departments.
  • Provide supervision (including completion of performance review for direct reports) within Academic & Career Advising, Global Education Office, and the Office of Disability Services
  • Foster cooperation among partners to broaden and enrich programs and to expand and encourage community engagement.

Duty/Responsibility

LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION-TRIO
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and program management for all aspects of federally funded TRIO and Aspire programs ensuring effective and efficient support for students’ enrollment in, persistence through, and graduation from KSC.
  • Guide and manage the evolution of all programs such that they provide optimum service, which is responsive to the shifting needs of the student populations, and incorporates emerging best practices.
  • Serve as a catalyst for and development of initiatives and programs that are directed toward student success.
  • Foster cooperation among partners to broaden and enrich programs and to expand and encourage community engagement.
  • Represent TRIO locally, in the state, region, and national arenas.
  • Develop grant proposals.
  • Develop and coordinate program publicity information including print, web, and social media presence
  • Provide supervision (including completion of performance review for direct reports) within Academic & Career Advising, Global Education Office, and the Office of Disability Services
  • Provide supervision and performance review for TRIO full and part-time staff.
  • Maintain and monitor federally required time on effort systems for grant-funded employees.
  • Provide assistance to project staff in any area of operation as needed.
  • Coordinate academic year, and summer planning for Aspire, Links, and Upward Bound Programs.

Duty/Responsibility

TRIO BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES, ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process for TRIO programs and services; Ensure financial and non-financial compliance including budget planning and budget oversight; Monitor and approve program purchases via Banner in compliance with Educational Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) and other applicable grant regulations.
  • Appropriate, track, and maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Develop and implement assessment measures in line with federal and state accrediting guidelines.
  • Track and modify activities to ensure efficiencies and successful completion of goals and objectives.
  • Develop institutional annual reports.

Duty/Responsibility

COMPLIANCE-TRIO
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Department of Education.
  • Oversees and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and grantor/contractor requirements.
  • Interpret, develop, and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and monitor ongoing compliance with established and emerging college policies and procedures for student safety and risk and liability avoidance.

OTHER
  • Collaboration on special projects or strategic initiatives as assigned by the Provost or Vice-President for Enrollment and Student Engagement.
