We invite applications for a Professor of Mathematics – College of Arts & Sciences.

Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, the successful applicant will be a highly motivated and dedicated educator with expertise teaching a variety of developmental and introductory courses in mathematics (including college algebra and calculus) and experience working with international and multi-lingual learners. As part of a newly established College, the successful applicant will help develop curriculum within the foundation-level math area, the Core Liberal Arts (CLA) program, and the proposed major. Research and teaching specialization is open, but ability to teach discipline-specific math and statistics courses a plus. Program development and administrative experience also desirable.

Teaching Load: 3/4.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Teaching courses in mathematics for the Core Liberal Arts (CLA) program to start and other areas and programs as developed and needed (developmental math, classes in the mathematics major, and for courses required by the Colleges of Business and Health Sciences).

  • Creating, posting, and articulating course learning outcomes or objectives in order to ensure student understanding of course learning objectives and expectations.

  • Creating course curriculum, course syllabus, course handouts, lectures, labs, presentations, and other course materials required to deliver course information in an understandable and interesting manner to ensure students are engaged with the course material in order to achieve the course learning outcomes.

  • Creating course rubrics in order to assess student performance related to the course learning objectives and to identify areas for student improvement.

  • Assisting students to master course material by being available during posted “office hours” and at other times to answer questions and assist students to better understand the material in one-on-one or small group sessions.

  • Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines.

  • Serve on university committees to enhance department and university policies and processes which enhance student academic and career success.

  • Serve as faculty advisor to students.

  • Attend all required university events such as commencement, faculty meetings, etc.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within the campus community and among professionals, foundations and companies that support institutional growth.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on various interdisciplinary research and teaching projects as well as student-focused co-curricular activities.

  • Perform other appropriate and reasonable required duties as assigned by the Supervisor (e.g. student club advising).


  • PhD in Mathematics required.

  • Minimum 3 years full-time, college-level teaching experience required.

  • Experience teaching in international settings and working with multi-lingual learners highly desirable.

  • Experience in curriculum and program development and/or prior administrative work (e.g. as a chairperson) a plus.

  • Evidence of a strong record of scholarship, professional practice and/or relevant consultancy.

  • A high standard of professional integrity, flexibility, strong team-building skills, and ability to work in complex settings.
