Chowan University, a graduate, co-educational, residential, moderate Baptist university affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, located on a beautiful campus in northeastern North Carolina in the historic town of Murfreesboro, is accepting applications for the senior-level position of Vice President for Development. This executive position will report directly to the President and be a member of the senior leadership team for the University.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the mission, vision and values of Chowan University with extensive experience in all facets of Development in higher education including fundraising, team and organizational leadership, alumni and parent engagement and community relations. Successful candidate is expected to have significant experience participating in and leading development related operations in a higher education setting while demonstrating a track record of successful fundraising in an environment that requires personal interaction with a wide range of donors.
A bachelor’s degree is required, graduate degree preferred. This is a very “hands-on” position with a minimum of five years of successful leadership in institutional development preferred. Experience working with a diverse constituency, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Database management with an ability to coordinate various projects while demonstrating innovative and engaging presentation abilities and excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral. A valid and clear motor vehicle record is required of this position.
