Job Summary/Basic Function:
Brazosport College, a two-time Top 10 finalist for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and Achieving the Dream Leader College, seeks an innovative, student-centered advocate to serve as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs who will provide educational and administrative leadership to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, student services, and institutional effectiveness. The Vice President is a strategic thought leader for the organization, reporting directly to the President, and serving on the College’s leadership team. As such, the Vice President of Academic and Student affairs will provide strong leadership for an ever expanding student success agenda in alignment with the vision and mission of the College.

The Vice President is accountable for the overall success of the academic, student services and institutional effectiveness operations of the College in concert with a highly skilled team that includes the Dean of Instruction, Dean of Student Services, Dean of Planning, Institutional Effectiveness, and Research, and Dean of School and College Partnerships. The Vice President will be an innovative and collaborative leader who will have the opportunity to work with experienced individuals across a variety of academic and workforce programs – faculty and staff who are deeply committed to student success and to Brazosport College.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution

  • A minimum of seven years successful post-secondary leadership and academic and student service administrative

  • experience with ongoing professional development

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), and experience building high-functioning, high-performing teams

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, fiscal management, resource allocation and personnel supervision

  • Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships with business and industry partners as well as educational partners, including K-12 and transfer institutions

  • Demonstrated experience in advancing equity and working with diverse populations; experience in student-focused initiatives to improve access, success and completion

  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated experience with the standards, requirements, and processes of state, federal and accreditation agencies

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other units, divisions, and departments outside of the direct area of responsibility
