Cayman Chemical Company is a biomedical research company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Cayman helps make research possible by supplying scientists worldwide with biochemical tools used to understand cancer, neurochemistry, oxidative injury, endocrinology, atherosclerosis, and other human health challenges. We specialize in assay kits for the measurement of hormones and bio-markers. In addition, Cayman offers a broad range of specialty biochemicals used as research reagents and qualified standards. Cayman performs generic drug development and production in both Ann Arbor, Michigan and Neratovice, Czech Republic.

We are currently seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Scientist (Protein Core) with the key duties and skills listed below:

The Protein Core team is responsible for the supply of proteins (native and recombinant) serving both internal and external customers.

  • Expand technologies and systems advancing membrane protein expression, purification and characterization at Cayman.

  • Researches literature to identify novel protein expression, purification & characterization techniques and help to drive the design, development and implementation of new products, methods and technologies.

  • May Travel to conferences to present posters and/or report back on new areas of interest.

  • May mentor Protein Core team members and/or supervise interns.

  • At time of hire: PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology (or a related Life Sciences field).

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in membrane protein expression/purification/characterization.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, GraphPad Prism and Unicorn software.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to work in multidisciplinary teams across several departments and divisions.
