Mentor:�Dr. HaoSheng Sun , Department of Cell, Developmmental and Integrative Biology

The Sun Laboratory (www.sunlaboratory.org) is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join our team and gain experience in a multidisciplinary, dynamic and fun research environment. The Sun Laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that control neuronal maturation and how they are dysregulated in neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. The group uses both C.elegans and mouse models in combination with genetic, genomics, microscopy and behavioral techniques. The applicant will have the creative freedom to pursue independent research projects across the general research interest area of the lab. In addition to scientific training, the applicant will be expected to provide support in management and organization of the lab including but not limited to mentorship/training of students/research technicians. Applicants should have at least a PhD degree in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, biochemistry, computational biology or a related field.

  • Ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work efficiently and be adaptable to changing priorities.

Proficiency in 1 or more of the following technical skills is preferred but not required. Training will be provided:

  • elegans microinjection and genetics
  • Basic molecular biology techniques including cloning, nuclei acid electrophoresis, etc
  • Microscopy
  • Next generation sequencing (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) and accompanying bioinformatics analysis
  • Rodent perfusion, brain dissection and sectioning, and in situ hybridization or immunohistochemistry
  • Rodent stereotaxic surgery and behavior
