Summary

The University Of Michigan Congenital Heart Center is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Cardiac Catheterization Technician for the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Labs. This position is located at CS Mott Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities*

  • Primary job responsibilities consist of the diverse role of monitoring and circulating during catheterization procedures on a diverse patient population with known or suspected congenital or acquired cardiac disease. Diagnostic as well as interventional cardiac procedures will be performed which include, but are not limited to angioplasty, transcatheter valve placements, stenting, biopsy, PICC line placements, and electrophysiology.
  • Work closely with Inventory Control Planner to maintain appropriate levels of stock in the labs.
  • Assist with research protocols as needed.
  • This is a 40 hour/week day shift position.  Overtime and on-call is required.

Required Qualifications*

  • Graduation from an accredited program in Cardiac Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Bachelor's degree in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Direct patient care experience working in a Cardiac Catheterization and/or Electrophysiology Lab.
  • RCIS or RCES Certification is required within one year of hire.
  • Must be a self-motivated, highly dependable independent worker with the ability to efficiently and effectively multitask, prioritize and problem solve.
  • BLS certification is required.

Graduate Patient Care Services Professional Underfill Qualifications: 

An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position, as well as any necessary post graduate learning and are actively pursuing the appropriate certification/registration/licensure for their profession is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certification as a Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or comperable Invasive Cardiology certification is desired.  Familiarity and experience with congenital heart disease.
  • Experience in critical care medicine.
  • Background as Interventional Radiology Technologist.  Completion of an accredited formal training course with registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency.
  • Experience scrubbing into interventional procedures while operating fluoroscopy equipment
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills necessary to work on a multidisciplinary team in a highly collaborative environment.
  • PALS certification
