POSITION PURPOSE 
The Vice President of Academic Affairs is the chief academic administrator who provides the vision and leadership for transfer, career and technical, and work-force development educational opportunities for students. The vice-president is responsible for maintaining quality teaching and learning opportunities in face-to-face, online, distance, and PSEO/concurrent formats. The vice president is responsible for curriculum and program development, quality assessment, program review, supervision of academic faculty and staff, faculty development, instructional fiscal management, supervision, instructional technology, and distance/online learning. The vice-president provides leadership and supervision for the academic deans, contributes to the strategic and operational plans and supervises the operations of the college in the absence of the President.

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, VISION, AND MANAGEMENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS BOTH PLANNING AND EVALUATION. This position will provide direction, coordination, articulation, supervision and evaluation for all academic activity, including instructional programs, developmental education, personnel, credentialing, curriculum development, policy development, faculty development and new program development to ensure that student developmental needs are met. The incumbent will envision and design a comprehensive delivery system to meet the needs of the diverse student population.

PROMOTE INNOVATION AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ACADEMICS WHILE BUILDING STRATEGIC BUDGETS.
This position will collaborate with student affairs to insure improvement in the retention of students and the rates of completion of academic goals and review enrollment patterns, cost/benefit information and other information to identify class schedule opportunities and needed changes to types of course offering. Implement an effective Strategic academic plan to create a place where students want to come by providing clearly defined educational pathways to enable learners to be successful in attaining career and transfer goals.

PARTNER WITH STAKEHOLDERS TO PROMOTE INNOVATION AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING WHILE BUILDING STRATEGIC BUDGETS TO ASSIST WITH INCREASING ENROLLMENT. 
Provides leadership in the development of partnerships with area high schools in curricular and instructional areas such as: Articulation, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, and other related activities, partners with business and industry to prepare students workforce needs. Provides leadership for the development, coordination, and supervision of national accreditation self-study reports, on-site visits, and follow-up reports related to accreditation processes for all nationally accredited instructional programs.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 
Master’s degree in related area with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in educational administration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in higher education

  • Comprehensive knowledge, and demonstrated experience of: academic program development, curriculum development and assessment; instructional technology; budget planning and preparation; strategic planning; institutional research; noncredit and online/hybrid credit instruction as well as fiscal management.

  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students and a clear commitment to diversity among faculty and staff.

  • Experience in planning and leading joint projects with business, K-12 or other educational organizations with record of accomplishments

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Educational Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate

  • Experience in a Comprehensive College.

  • Significant faculty and administrative experience including a record of accomplishments.

  • Aptitude to facilitate cooperation through discussion and consensus building.

  • Experience with Strategic and Tactical planning with a record of achieving institutional goals.

  • Knowledge of HLC standards or other accrediting bodies.

  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements, and policy development.

Other: Daily and Overnight Travel is an essential part of the position. This position requires an unrestricted Driver’s License with a clear driving record
