Part-time

The Marketing Officer oversees the operational planning, establishment, execution, and evaluation of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business (HSB) branding, marketing, and communications program, including developing and implementing a strategic vision and comprehensive marketing plan. The Marketing Officer also oversees fiscal, operational, administrative, and human resources management of the program including directing the Huntsman School’s marketing team and serves as the principal point of representation for internal and external constituencies on marketing operational matters; and provides day-to-day technical marketing, professional guidance and leadership. The Marketing Officer reports directly to the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business Associate Dean for External Affairs, and is responsible for hiring, training, leading, motivating and supervising a team of full-time, part-time, contract, and student employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees the administrative and daily operations of the HSB marketing program, ensuring compliance with Utah State University branding guidelines, state of Utah, and federal policies and regulations specifically as it relates to digital marketing and the Federal Communications Commission.

  • Supervises the HSB marketing team personnel, setting work and team priorities, conducting training and mentoring, establishing internal team production processes, workflows and checkpoints, resolving personnel issues, evaluating employee performance and conducting appropriate personnel actions; motives personnel to perform at high-levels to achieve best-in-class status for an in-house business school marketing team.

  • Creates an annual comprehensive marketing plan including strategic messaging and branding of HSB along with establishing success metrics. This plan includes the development of an annual operating budget to accomplish the goals outlined in the comprehensive marketing plan; approves and monitors budget expenditures and prepares budget revisions.

  • Oversee the design, development, creation, and distribution of all digital and traditional marketing collateral for all HSB programs.

  • Oversees technical and professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day HSB marketing program activities as outlined in the annual comprehensive marketing plan, as new opportunities arise, or as marketing program evaluations require strategy and execution shifts.

  • Develops, researches and oversees the implementation of marketing/communications systems and team workflow processes to establish and maintain archives for all HSB marketing collateral, as well as prospective student, current student and HSB alumni communications.

  • Oversees the management of marketing communications on HSB web pages, social media channels, The Huntsman PostThis Week @ Huntsman, and Huntsman Alumni Magazine, ensuring all content aligns with strategies and messaging as outlined by the annual comprehensive marketing plan.

  • Leads creative direction, production and development of advertising and marketing projects in all social, print, digital and video platforms including national advertising/branding campaigns as outlined in the annual comprehensive marketing plan.

  • Oversees media relations function for HSB, in coordination with USU media relations effort.

  • Collaborates with USU’s institutional marketing team to ensure HSB’s brand interests are rigorously represented and HSB departments, programs, and projects are featured within institution-wide marketing and branding efforts such as the Aggie Impact advertising campaign.

  • Develops and implements marketing policies, procedures and workflows consistent with those of the HSB College to ensure efficient operation of the marketing program.

  • Synthesize and report marketing data and success metrics with the goal of solving problems and refining procedures and systems for improvement.

  • Plan, prepare, and oversee special events such as HSB Focused Fridays and Leadership Forums.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent degree plus 8 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping and archiving systems and procedures, as well as marketing collateral database.

  • Skilled in the use of computers and software, including Word and Excel, as well as marketing technologies such as communications automation.

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare quarterly and/or annual marketing reports as required.

  • Ability to supervise, train, lead and motivate HSB marketing employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

  • Ability to foster a cooperative and creative work environment leading to a best in class marketing team.

  • Development and performance management skill for creative team and technical team employees.

  • Knowledge of marketing budget preparation, cost estimating, monitoring, and fiscal management principles and procedures to establish ROI guidelines.

  • Marketing specific knowledge, skills, and abilities such as copywriting – long and short format, creative concepting, art direction, as well as strategic messaging development and execution.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies with HSB’s diverse student and alumni community.

  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.

  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to establishing and executing comprehensive marketing plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • MBA or equivalent degree plus 15 years of experience.

Expression of a level to communicate fluently with clients/customers and others to obtain and provide complex information. Vocalize and explain detailed and problem-solve, both in-person and by telephone. Capable of interpretation of technical materials, oral presentation of reports and able to adapt vocabulary, tone and content for listener.

ADA Comm Requirements - Comprehension:

Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information such as case histories, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make interview notes. May involved a large volume of such composition.

ADA Travel Requirements:

Moderate travel required – ability to travel frequently (i.e., weekly-monthly) for activities such as home visits, collateral contacts, transport of clients to appointments, delivering mail, auditing records, inspecting facilities, or other activities requiring frequent travel under normal conditions.
