The Industry Relations and Grants Manager is responsible for supporting the Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships in preparing leads for industry meetings and follow-up for strategic partnership development working towards MOU agreements. In addition, the Manager is responsible for all post-award accounting, overseeing research budgets, and developing summary reports for external partners and internal analysis and reporting.
The mission of the Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships is to support efforts aimed at expanding research activities in all academic areas and developing new institutional programs and strategic partnerships to support research. This position will support the efforts of working in close collaboration with the deans and departmental chairs, assisting with liaising between the Institute and federal, state, city funding agencies, private foundations and corporate, industry, and other partners. The Associate Provost creates opportunities to increase Pratt Institute's success at securing funding to support research and creative work. This is done by promoting and supporting research and creative work within the Institute, assisting faculty to obtain and manage external funding, and overseeing foundation, government relations, and industry staff in the Office of the Provost.
Support the Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships in pre and post meeting work to develop potential industry strategic partnerships; researching companies, creating profiles, following up from meetings with proposals and MOU development.
Ensure regular consistent communication with external partners, supporting and growing industry relationships.
Work cooperatively with deans, directors, and department chairs along with Provost staff in furtherance of the goals and activities.
Support the Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships in ensuring all research and partnership expenditures are held within budget limits and processing approved budget transfers, mid-year budget adjustments, and reports as requested/required.
Work closely with the Budget Office, Deans, Directors' Offices and related departments; respond as necessary for information, and budget management.
Participate in annual updates to the strategic plan with emphasis on the financial impact of new and continuing industry initiatives.
Represent when needed the Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships as requested as Pratt Institute and processional meetings.
Perform all other duties as required.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in a relevant field; Master's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 year's financial and partnership development experience, preferably with experience in industry, grants management, and/or research development.
Knowledge and Skills: Applicant must have demonstrated financial acumen as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills. Expertise required with Microsoft Suite, with special emphasis on Excel/Pages. Knowledge of SalesForce data management system and web applications, is desired. Decision-Making: Under supervision, some latitude for individual judgements, coordination with various departments, and budgetary responsibility for reporting, management, and transfers. Communication/Contacts: Associate Provost for Research and Strategic Partnerships, Director of Government Relations, Director of Foundation Relations, Administrative Staff in Provosot's Office, Deans, Directors, Dept. Chairs, Faculty. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse, as well as demonstrate inter-cultural competence with an understanding of the dynamics of diversity in higher education.
